These are the fundamental key commands in Vim. They function the same way the arrow keys do, but the advantage of using them over the arrow keys is that your right hand doesn't have to leave the HOME ROW.

The trick to memorizing them is to map it to touch typing. So H Left Index finger, L Right ring finger, J Down index finger, K Up middle finger.
